Project: Opening Title

Ideas

I had an idea to evolve an opening around a character I had drawn recently, making like an anime opening for this character. I had ideas for things that could happen in to opening like in other anime openings like shots tilting up the character or panning around the character. But I thought that would be a bit hard for me to do as this is my first proper project and I have limited skills. So I started to think of other ideas like shots of the country side from a car that is driving to the woods I don't really know what for yet but this would be a horror or thriller. while thinking of ideas I was watching Sarazanmai, the ending made me think that I could combine my ideas together.

Final Idea

A person running down a dirt track, the title appearing either behind the runner or just after the runner has run off, the title would just be short like IT 2018 or Stranger Things.

The movie is called Pitch Black, it is about a person who likes running at night as it is quiet which leave them to their thoughts, one night the dirt track they usually run down seems different. They get attacked and badly hurt run away and are alone with the attackers. They have to avoid running into them again while trying to make it out of the forest.

Changing it slightly into production, its about two friends who go out on their usual even run together only this time to be attacked, one of them got badly hurt and struggles to walk. So together, stumbling through the woods, have to get to safety before the attacker can find them

IT 2017

The opening is the title in blood like written font which indicates the genre of horror/thriller, spin out of the sewer through the title, IT, floating above the sewer water, with the reflection on the water. The IT title is in the sewer representing the fact that IT lives in the sewer. The title is accompanied with eerie music, to add to the creepy vibe and darkness of the sewers. 

I would like my opening title to be similar but appear just as the person running runs off, leaving the viewer with the title.
The movie ins't really supernatural or heavily gory like most horror movies are, this movies is more like 12 feet deep which is a horror with no supernatural happenings or gore which at the start the audience is slightly lead to believe there is some supernatural force. this movie doesn't have an opening sequence though.

Flatliners (2017)

This move had the same suspenseful feel as 12 feet deep, when I watched it. This opening is the word flatliners in a basic font. the word is in all capitals, it is all glitchy and the A is part of a heart beat like on a heart monitor. It is also pulsing like a heart beat.(This was the best video and quality i could find)

Production

I filmed on 12 of October, with Kailey and Jasmine helping me out, unfortunately the person who I would of liked to be the runner was busy on that day, so my sister and her friend where the runners, I borrowed a camera from springboard. There where 3 locations that I thought would be great but I only filmed at 2, to test out and decide while editing, the 3rd one was one i had thought of while thinking of ideas.

I chose to have 2 people in the opening because my original idea was for 2 people going out for a day bike ride then getting attacked, I could have done it as I did have the perfect location for it but it is in Eastbourne.

While editing I was thinking about what feel the movie would have, so I decided to change the genre to just be a thriller. as horrors are more focused on gore or supernatural stuff, and as mine would have a little but wouldn't be scary so I thought thriller would be more appropriate.

I decided to change the title as it was more relevant to my previous idea, I changed the tile to run and hide as they get attacked while out for a evening run in the woods so they would have to hide from the attacker until they can get out of the woods.
